What is a cheesemaking culture? It’s blend of different lactic bacteria that are created specifically for making a certain types of cheeses. Being home cheesemakers, we don’t want lots of different cultures, so we use cultures that work well for multiple cheeses – we like to keep things simple! Cheese culture promote the good bacteria in the milk which leads to a fuller flavour in our final cheese.
Unsure of where to start? We reccomened figuring out which cheese you would like to make first, and go from there. Most choose a cheese they eat a lot or something they know will fit into their routine. Ideally start with something easy like our Greek Yoghurt, Labne, Quark and Mascarpone Cheese Making Kit. Not only are the cheeses REALLY easy to make, you can also save yourself a lot of money on yoghurt alone. Win-Win!
Plus our range of cheesemaking cultures are shipped Australia wide. Our orders are posted every Monday and Tuesday (excluding public holidays) via Australia Post. We have found they survive extended shipping times, even in the middle of our Australian summer. Just pop them in the fridge or freezer when they arrive to you. Instructions are sent with each parcel on how to look after your cultures.
